Larry D. Oilar, 67, of Brookston, died at 10:28 p.m. Thursday, September 10, 2009 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center. He was born September 30, 1941 in Lafayette to the late Benjamin and Dorothy (Klepinger) Oilar. He was a 1959 graduate of Brookston High School. His marriage was to Sandra "Sue" Martin on September 4, 1960 in the Chalmers Community Church. She survives. Mr. Oilar worked for 30 years at Eli Lilly, in Environmental Control, retiring May 31, 2001. Prior to that he worked for TRW and JC Penney's. He was a member of the Brookston Federated Church. Mr. Oilar also was a past member of the Brookston Town Board and at one time a special deputy for the town under Dale Brown. Larry enjoyed woodworking, fishing and mushrooming. Surviving with his wife are a daughter, Kim Ridge (husband: Mark) of Lafayette; a son, Doug Oilar (wife: Susan) of Columbus, Ohio and a brother, Mick Oilar (wife: Sherry) of Brookston. Larry loved spending time with his grandchildren, Erica, Ryan, Tyler, Nathan and Megan. Also surviving is a sister-in-law, Ann Oilar. He also enjoyed spending time with his dogs, Cinnamon and Sugar. Preceding him in death with his parents is a brother, Garry Oilar and a child sister, Judy Oilar. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Monday, September 14, 2009 at Hartzler-Clapper Funeral Home in Brookston. Service there 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 15, 2009.
