Clifford E. "Ed" Hutson, 76, of Brookston, died at 2:53 p.m. on Tuesday, July 28, 2009 in Clarian Arnett Hospital. Born on July 16, 1933 in Brookston, he was the son of the late Earl and Catharine Utley Hutson. He was a 1951 graduate of Brookston High School. He attended the University of Miami on a basketball scholarship for one year and also attended Purdue University. His marriage of 50 years was to Dorothy "Dottie" A. Bone on November 1, 1958 in Brookston. She survives. Ed served in the United States Army 11th Airborne from 1953 to 1957 and was a member of the Brookston United Methodist Church. He worked at Ross Gear, Division of TRW for 35 years as a machine operator, retiring in 1988. After retirement he worked in the kitchen at the Top Notch Bar for 10 years. He enjoyed NASCAR, fishing and spending time with his family who dearly loved him, especially his 3 favorite daughter-in-laws and 4 grandchildren. Surviving with his wife are his children, Rob Hutson of Lafayette; Steve Hutson (wife: Stacy) of Fishers; Brian Hutson (wife: Cara) of Pendleton; and Michael Hutson (wife: Beth) of Edina, Minnesota. Also surviving are his grandchildren Alie, Jorie, Emma and Jacob who were the light of Ed's life. Preceding him in death are 3 brothers and 2 sisters. Friends may call from 4 - 8 p.m. Friday, July 31, 2009 at Hartzler-Clapper Funeral Home in Brookston. Service 11 a.m. Saturday, August 1, 2009; Rev. Joe Hornick to officiate. Interment to follow at Brookston IOOF Cemetery. Memorial donations can be made in Ed's name to the Brookston United Methodist Church or the American Cancer Society.
