Alpha Aileene Bushong, 82, of Brookston, died at 3:11 p.m. Friday, July 10, 2009 at her home. She was born September 22, 1926 in Hot Springs County, Arkansas to the late Allie and Minnie (Mallott) Stinnett. She attended school in Arkansas. Her marriage was to Donald Bushong on August 22, 1945 in New Port, Arkansas. He died May 20, 2002. Mrs. Bushong was a homemaker. She also worked 15 years at the Klein Brat House in Brookston. She was a long time member of the Brookston Church of Christ. She enjoyed knitting, baking, crocheting and playing cards in the local card club. Surviving are her sons, Donald Bushong Jr. (wife: Dawn) of Francesville and Roger Bushong (wife: Kerry) of Lafayette; a brother, Hurlie Stinnett (wife: Nancy) of Brookston and a sister, Berdina Stackhouse (husband: Bob) also of Brookston. Alpha loved spending time with her family, especially her 5 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Monday, July 13, 2009 at Hartzler-Clapper Funeral Home in Brookston. Service there 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 14, 2009. Interment to follow at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens Cemetery, West Lafayette. Preceding her in death is a brother, Thomas A. White and a grandson, Joshua Bushong. Memorials may be made in her name to the Alzheimer's Association.
