Nellie Mae Harris, 81, of Chalmers, formerly of Wolcott, died at 3:05 am Friday, March 21, 2008 in Rosewalk Village of Lafayette. She had been in failing health for the last month. She was born November 27, 1926 in Todd County, Kentucky to the late Robert & Myrtle (Tucker) Latham. Her marriage was to Melvin Lee Harris on July 18, 1942 in Kentucky. He died April 6, 2007. Mrs. Harris worked at Alloy Rods Corporation for many years. She also was a nursing assistant at St. Elizabeth Healthcare in Delphi. She was a member of the Chalmers Bible Baptist Church and attended when able. She enjoyed reading inspirational literatur, growing flowers and gardening. Surviving are her 8 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. Nellie loved spending time with her family and preparing meals for them. Friends may call from 4 pm until the time of service at 7 pm Monday, March 24, 2008 at the Brookston Federated Church (2nd and Wood St). Her burial will be handled privately by family on Tuesday at Meadow Lake Cemetery, Wolcott. Preceeding her in death are 3 sons, Donald, Ronald, and Terry Harris; a stepson, Russell Harris and two brothers, Johnny and Thomas Latham.
