Monica L. Weikel Wallace, 40, of West Lafayette, died at 1:10 am Tuesday, May 6, 2008, in Regency Place of Lafayette. She had been in failing health since Jan. 1, 2008. She was born Sept. 19, 1967, in Lafayette to William and Donna Brown Weikel. She attended Klondike Junior High School. Her first marriage was to Jeff Ruckel on May 25, 1985. They later divorced. She then married James Wallace on Aug. 17, 1996, in Lafayette and he survives. Mrs. Wallace worked at one time for Regency Place as a dietary aide. She also worked in housekeeping for Economy Inn and Town House Suites. She enjoyed watching CSI, using the computer and puzzle books. Surviving with her husband are three children, Donna Bushong (husband: Derric), William Ruckel and James Smith, all of Lafayette; two sisters, Angela Roe (husband: Jerry) and Sheila Gray (husband: Zane), both of Lafayette; a brother, Martin Wiekel (wife: Misty) of Lafayette; and a daughter, Jessica, who was adopted by her brother. Also surviving are 4 grandchildren and her nieces and nephews. Graveside funeral services to be held at 1:30 pm Thursday, May 8, 2008, at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens Cemetery, West Lafayette. Pastor Brian White to officiate. Hartzler-Clapper Funeral Home of Brookston is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
