Nellie Amelia Russe Knight was called home to be with her family and friends on Monday, April 15, 2024.

She was born to Paul C. Russe and Marie Richart Russe of Indianapolis, IN, on November 12, 1929.  She graduated from Arsenal Tech High School of Indianapolis, class of 1947.  She later attended Indiana University.

On April 30, 1958, she married Ted Knight.  She was a Medical Technologist for many years.  Nellie and Ted operated the Knight Oil Company of Monticello.

After working at White County Child Services, the family welcomed many foster children into their home.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ted; brother, Dr. Henry Russe of Chicago, IL; sister, Mary Ann Sipe of Indianapolis, IN; and son, Richard James (Jim) Knight, of Monticello.

Survivors include children Paula M. (Bill) Lucas, Nancy (Van) Jackson, Ted. E. Knight, nine grandchildren, and twelve great grandchildren.

Private viewing will be held Saturday, April 20, 2024, in Monticello.  A celebration of Nellie's life will take place this summer.
