William Howard Crawford, 82, of Monticello passed away Monday, March 4, 2024.  He was born October 28, 1941 to the late Howard Crawford and Juanita (Lowe) Crawford.  

On August 31, 1981 he married Ruth Thompson.  He was a Pipefitter for Local 597 for over 40 years.  William was known as “Wild Bill” to many.  He loved helping children, and he and Ruth enjoyed playing Mr. and Mrs. Claus.  William was a friend to the local bars in Monticello,  especially Whiskey & Wine Saloon and Janet’s Intown Lounge.  

He was a member of the Indiana Patriot Guard Riders, Sons of Amvets Post 91, American Legion Post 81, and VFW Post 2231.   He enjoyed riding his motor trike and worked his way up to Ride Captain with the Indiana Patriot Guard Riders.  

William is survived by two daughters:  Carmen Ramon and Lori Shivalec; one son, Wally (Janene) Crawford; nine grandchildren;  twenty-one great-grandchildren; niece Barbara Skalon; and nephew Dwayne (Lori) Skalon.  

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ruth; daughters: Patty Crawford and Lisa Booth; sister Cordelia (Crawford) Skalon and her husband Ralph Skalon.  

Celebration of life service will be Sunday, March 17, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Miller Roscka Funeral Home of Monticello.  Interment to follow at Bedford Cemetery.  Memorial donations may be made to:  Courage Rock Stable.  Miller Roscka Funeral Home is honored to be handling the arrangements.
