May 25, 1918 - May 25, 2018

Marion Elizabeth Betty (Wilson) Schubert died peacefully on Friday, May 25, 2018, surrounded by family in Frankenmuth, Michigan. She was born on May 25, 1918, to the late J Alex and Rosa Mae Wilson, as the oldest of five children. Betty was raised on the family farm in Wolcott, Indiana.  She began her education in a one-room school and graduated from Wolcott High School in 1936. Betty worked for the Wolcott Grain Elevator before attending Manchester College (1938-1939). She worked for the Social Security Department in Indianapolis, Indiana during the 1940s. Later, Betty worked for the Plank Brothers Savings and Loan in Muncie.

Betty was very active in the United Methodist Church. As a young person in the Wolcott United Methodist Church, she taught Sunday School and was a youth representative for her Methodist District. Later, she served as the Sunday School Superintendent. Betty was a member of the Yorktown United Methodist Church since 1958, where she happily served in various positions in the United Methodist Women.

During her long life, she enjoyed many activities. She was a member of the Fortville Women's Book Club, Home Economics Club and Alpha Omega and many other organizations. She loved to participate in the lives of her children, family, and friends. Her family, friends and neighbors, gardening and traveling and her love of God were very important in her life.

She married the late Glenn (Zip) W. Schubert on October 3, 1943.  They had two children, the late Glenn D. Schubert (Beth), Waukesha, WI and Sandra Yerion (Roger), Frankenmuth MI. They also had three much-loved grandsons, Andy Schubert (Jennifer) Kansas City Kansas, Todd Yerion (Nicole), Frankenmuth, MI, and Alex Schubert, Hoffman Estates, IL. She was blessed with two beautiful great-granddaughters, Zoe and Addison.

Her husband of 66 years, her parents, her son Glenn David Schubert, sister, Frances Wilson Bottom, infant brother Norman Wilson, and her brother-in-law, C. Virgil St. John, preceded her in death.

According to Betty’s wishes, there will be no funeral service. Interment will be in Goodland Indiana. A memorial service will follow later.

Those planning an expression of sympathy may consider the Wolcott United Methodist Church and the Yorktown United Methodist Church.
