Elizabeth "Betty" Godbey, 77, of Fowler, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on August 26, 2017 at St. Elizabeth East of Lafayette. She was born January 22, 1940 in Fowler to the late Henry and Flossie (Crawford) Lawson. She was a 1958 graduate of Pine Township.

Her marriage was to John Paul Godbey on June 18, 1960 at Hope Wesleyan Church of Fowler. He survives.

Elizabeth was a member of Hope Wesleyan Church where she also was past president of Wesleyan Woman’s Group. She was a bus driver for CDC in Rensselaer for 18 years and also drove 7 years for Benton Central School Corporation.

Elizabeth enjoyed spending her time cooking, collecting several cookbooks, hummingbird figurines and pictures.

Surviving along with her husband are children, Paul Keith (Colleen) Godbey of Kentland and Kimberly M. Godbey of Fowler. Also surviving is a brother, Everett (Marilyn) Lawson of Ft. Wayne, IN; grandson, Michael Long.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Flossie Lawson.

The family will hold a visitation from 1 PM until the time of Memorial Service 2 PM, Saturday, September 9, 2017 at Hope Wesleyan Church of Fowler at the corner of 3rd and Grant.

Memorial contributions may be made in Elizabeth’s name to Hope Wesleyan Church of Fowler.
