Eva B. Yerk, 95, a lifelong resident of White County, passed away at 4:23 p.m. Thursday, August 24, 2017 at her home with her daughters at her side.

She was born August 30, 1921 in Milroy Township, Jasper County to the late Alonzo and Irene Mae (Marchand) Chapman.

Her marriage was to Lyle Eugene Yerk on January 11, 1948 in the family home in rural Chalmers. Mr. Yerk preceded her in death on January 5, 2012.

Eva was a homemaker who raised her children and supported her husband on the family farm. She always enjoyed her flowers, raising chickens and growing vegetables in her garden which she often canned.  She was also an excellent cook and baker.

Eva made the most beautiful handmade dolls including their clothing. Her daughter, Sharon, would sell the dolls throughout the halls of St. Vincent’s Hospital in Indianapolis bringing comfort to others in their time of sickness.

Surviving are two daughters, Sharon Yerk of Brookston and Linda Kilmer (husband: Larry) of Chalmers; a sister, Marie Ledford of Buffalo, IN and a brother, Russell Chapman of West Point, IN. Eva enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, Jason Kilmer (wife: Patty) and Jennifer Foster (husband: Brett) and her great-grandchildren, Emily, Abigail, Tyler, Justin, Grace and Annalise Kilmer and Ryan and Adam Foster.

Preceding her in death with her husband and parents are two sisters, Helen Margison and June Baxter and a brother, Dale Chapman.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of funeral service at 12 p.m. (Noon) Monday, August 28, 2017 at Hartzler-Clapper Funeral Home of Brookston; Pastor Anella McFee to officiate. Interment to follow in Tippecanoe Memory Gardens Cemetery, West Lafayette.

Memorials may be made in her name to the Tri-County FFA.
