Robert A. Leonard, 79, of Kentland, passed away at 12:55 AM, January 2, 2017 at George Ade Memorial of Brook, IN. He was born December 10, 1937 in Greene Twp., IN to the late Garnett and Bonnie (Hall) Leonard. He was a 1956 graduate of Bainbridge High School. Robert was a member of the United States Army Reserves from 1956-1963.

His Marriage was to Barbara Joanne Glidewell on June 10, 1960 at Chapel of the Good Shepherd of the First Christian Church in Greencastle, IN. She survives.

Robert was a Charter member of the Kentland Lions Club, past Associate Director and Director of the Newton County Fair, and served on the 4-H Council. He also was a member of the Kentland Trinity United Methodist Church where he served on the trustee committee and played on the Dart Ball team for 42 years.

Robert was a former self employed contractor and retired after 23 years with the Town of Kentland. He enjoyed spending his time woodworking, and being with family.

Surviving along with his wife is a son, Jeffrey Alan (Dana) Leonard of Goodland, IN; step-granddaughter, Morgan Winder; siblings, David (Joyce) Leonard of Waynetown, IN, Gary (Gayle) Leonard of Crawfordsville, IN, Virginia VanHook of Ontario, OH, and Vivian Bartley of Crawfordsville, IN. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Garnett and Bonnie Leonard.

Friends may call from 4-8 PM (CST) Friday, January 6, 2017 at Stitz-Clapper Funeral Home of Kentland. Funeral Service 11 AM (CST) Saturday, January 7, 2017 at the Kentland Trinity United Methodist Church. Pastor Clint Fink to officiate. Interment to follow in Fairlawn Cemetery.
