Trent F. Yates, 35, of Lafayette, passed away at 9:08 PM, August 4, 2016 at Carle Foundation Hospital of Urbana, IL due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was born November 2, 1980 in Watseka, IL to the late Francis and Noreen (Kuehl) Yates. Trent was a 2000 graduate of Twin Lakes High School.

Since finishing high school, Trent had worked for Yates Construction of Kentland, IN. He enjoyed watching the Chicago Cubs, was a fan of Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls, playing pool, and boating at Lake Freeman and Shafer of Monticello, IN.

Trent is survived by his siblings, Rick (Michelle) Yates of Fowler, IN, and Scott Vitale of Elkhart, IN; niece, Ashley Yates of Fowler, IN; nephews, Ricky (Tamarha) of Earl Park, IN, Dustin Yates of Lafayette, IN, and Dylan Yates of Fowler, IN. He is also survived by cousins, Tammi (Ted) Parker of Silver Lake, IN, Robin (Vince) Huse, and Ronnie Haney of Mishawaka, IN.

Preceding him in death along with his parents is a brother, Terry Yates.

Friends may call from 4-8 PM (CST) Monday, August 8, 2016 at Stitz-Clapper Funeral Home of Kentland. Funeral Mass 11 AM (CST) Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at St. Joseph Catholic Church of Kentland, Fr. Rob Bernotas to officiate.  Interment to follow in L’Erable Catholic Cemetery.
