Edith Cora Wittenauer, 88, of Brookston, passed away at 9:04 a.m. Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at St. Elizabeth Healthcare in Delphi, Indiana.

 

She was born on July 7, 1927 in Warren County to the late Russell and Esther (Davis) Kochell. She was a graduate of Ambia High School.

 

She married William "Bill" Wittenauer on October 3, 1946 at the Ambia Methodist Church. He preceded her in death on February 4, 1997.

 

Edith was a member of the Brookston Methodist Church. She was formerly employed at General Electric in Danville, IL. She loved to play cards, watch the Cubs, Pacers, and Purdue. She especially loved setting people in a game of Euchre. She was a wonderful cook, and baked great pies and cinnamon rolls.

 

She is survived by her children, Steven (Nancy) Wittenauer of West Lafayette and Sue (Sam) Wilkerson of Rossville; and a brother Kenneth Kochell. Also surviving are 6 grandchildren; Todd, Amy, Kris, Mark, Staci, and Shelly; 14 great grandchildren; 3 step-great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bill, her brothers Rex and Robert Kochell, and sister Rene Arms.

 

Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Friday, April 29, 2016 at Hartzler-Clapper Funeral Home in Brookston. Funeral Service at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 30, 2016 at Hartzler-Clapper Funeral Home. Rev. Dr. Lelan McReynolds to officiate. Interment to follow in Boswell Cemetery.
