R.  Larry Melvin, 73, of Kentland, passed away at 1:23 AM, April 14, 2016 at VA Medical Ctr-Illina of Danville, IL. He was born May 29, 1942 in Crawfordsville, IN to the late Charles P. and Marie (Paxton) Melvin. He was a 1960 graduate of Crawfordsville High School. Mr. Melvin was a veteran of the United States Navy.

His marriage was to Erdean D. Dunagan on April 2, 1971 in Crawfordsville, IN. She preceded him in death on January 5, 2015.

Larry was a member of the Masonic Lodge 372 of Morocco, IN, Kentland Trinity United Methodist Church, Scottish Rite Indianapolis Valley 32 Degree Mason, Rotary Club of DeMotte, IN, and the Lions Club of Morocco, IN.

Larry enjoyed classic cars, motorcycles (Harley-Davidson), yard work, and hunting. Most of all he enjoyed spending his time with his family.

Larry is survived by his children, James (Carol) Strack of Cape Coral, FL, Debra (Randy Witte) Shufflebarger of Goodland, IN; grandsons, Josh (Megan) Shufflebarger, Jacob (Becca) Shufflebarger, Jared Shufflebarger, and Christian Strack; granddaughter, Sara (Derek) Iseminger; 7 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister, Phyllis (John) Craig; brother, Gene (Pat) Melvin; sister and brother-in-law, Annie and Steve Schluttenhofer; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death along with his parents and wife, is a son, Ron P. Melvin.

Friends may call from 11 AM (CST) until the time of funeral service at 2 PM (CST) Saturday, April 16, 2016 at the Kentland Trinity United Methodist Church. Pastor Jennifer Huff to officiate. Interment to follow in Fairlawn Cemetery of Kentland.

In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Larry's name to the Kentland Trinity United Methodist Church.
