Clarissa A. (Moore) Mercer, 83, of Remington, passed away at 9:50 PM, March 14, 2016 at St. Anthony’s Hospice of Crown Point, IN.

 

She was born May 18, 1932 in Remington to the late John F. and Mary E. (Mitchell) Moore. She graduated from Remington High School. Clarissa married John Mercer and they later divorced.

 

She was a long time member of the Remington First Christian Church where she also volunteered her time at the local food pantry. Clarissa worked for several years at the Remington Family Express.

 

She enjoyed spending her time working on puzzles, computer games, listening to music, and writing short stories. Most of all Clarissa loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, Johnnie (Janice) Mercer of Rensselaer, IN, Steven (Lori) Mercer of Quemado, TX, and Peggy (Richard) Brown of Remington, IN. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

 

Preceding her in death along with her parents is a brother, Ralph Moore and grandchildren Amanda St. John and Michael Mercer.

Friends may call from 10 AM (EST) until the time of funeral service 11 AM (EST), Saturday, March 19, 2016 at Stitz-Clapper Funeral Home of Remington. Pastor Randy Sparks of the Remington First Christian Church to officiate. Interment to follow in Remington Cemetery.

 

In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Remington First Christian Food Pantry or the American Cancer Society.
