Michael Heath

February 10, 1970 - February 17, 2016

On the morning of February 17, 2016, Michael D. Heath, 46, of Battle Ground, passed away peacefully at home comforted by his wife and surrounded by his children. He had been battling cancer for the past few months.

Mike was born February 10, 1970 in Lafayette, Indiana. He was the fourth child of James A. and Dianne (Burnworth) Heath and was a 1988 graduate of Lafayette Jefferson High School. Mike played baseball in school and continued his passion for the sport by coaching Junior Varsity and Assistant Varsity at Lafayette Jeff until 1990.

He married Lori S. Christopher on May 16, 1992 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Lafayette. She survives.

Mike worked for Wabash National, TRW, and Quality Mill Supply Company, Franklin IN. He and his wife bought a Window Genie franchise in 2014 and most recently, Mike was attending school to become a real estate broker at the time he was diagnosed with cancer.

Above all, Mike will be remembered for his love and involvement with his family, friends and mentoring the youth. He and his wife recalled the years he played softball at Lybolt Fields with the many friends he gained in doing so. Mike loved coaching girls softball and spent many nights and weekends instructing Frontier Summer Rec and multiple travel teams. Most recently, Mike was the Assistant Varsity Coach at Frontier School from 2011-2014. His passion and dedication is reflected by the number of individuals he coached who have reached out during his illness to express their gratitude and commented on the impact he made on their lives.

Surviving with his wife is their children, Chelsey Heath (Joel Duvall, fiancé ), Corey Heath and Courtney Heath all of Battle Ground; his parents, James and Dianne Heath of Battle Ground; two sisters, Traci Haan (Pat) of West Lafayette and Laurie Riley (Kevin) of Lafayette and a brother, Jimmy Heath of North Carolina. Mike is also survived by several loving nieces and nephews who will forever miss his sarcastic humor, as well as his special joy and granddaughter, Aryia Heath.

A memorial fund has been established at The Farmers State Bank to benefit Frontier School students. Please send donations to the Mike Heath Memorial Fund C/O The Farmers State Bank, PO Box 159, Brookston, IN 47923.
