Emogene G Wearstler
August 24, 1925 - September 2, 2015
Emogene (Guise) Wearstler, 90, of Brookston, passed away at 2:48 a.m. Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at IU Health Arnett of Lafayette. She was born August 24, 1925 in Kent, Ohio to the late Edwin Merl and Gail (Ferry) Guise and was a graduate of Kent State University. Emogene was an elementary school teacher in northern Ohio for several years. She then married Albert B. Wearstler in June of 1955 in Kent, Ohio at the Congregational Church. They later moved to Lafayette for Albert's job at National Homes. Emogene and Albert had three children, Daniel B. Wearstler (wife: Mary Salve) of Indianapolis, Claudia G. Paeth of Attica and Mark Stanley Wearstler of Brookston. After her children were older she worked at the Tippecanoe County Public Library for 20 years, a job she truly loved. She worked first in the bookmobile department then later in the reference department. Also surviving is her former son-in-law, Jerry L. Paeth and her beloved grandchildren, Alexandra Ruth Leon (husband: Nicholas Paul), Cassie Lee and Mitchell Edwin. Emogene loved spending time with her family, especially with Nick & Alex's son, great grandma's "little man" Julian Cruz Leon. She will be missed by her many friends and acquaintances. Mom was a wonderful example of a Christian always putting others before herself. She enjoyed gardening, knitting and attending the Brookston Federated Church. Friends may call from 12 p.m. (noon) until the time of funeral service at 2 p.m. Monday, September 7, 2015 at Hartzler-Clapper Funeral Home of Brookston with Rev. Dr. Lelan D.
