Marvin Lear, 79, of Wolcott passed away at 9:16 a.m. Monday , July 27, 2015 at his home surrounded by family. He was born January 31, 1936 in Wolcott to the late Leonard & Edna (Brinkman) Lear. Marvin graduated from Wolcott High School in 1954. His first marriage was to Janet Goodwin, she preceded him in death in 1994. His second marriage was to Barbara Minicus in 1995. She survives. Mr. Lear was a lifelong farmer, former board member and president of the Farmers Elevator in Wolcott. He was a member of the Moose Lodge in Monticello. Marvin also was a member of the Palestine Christian Church. Marvin enjoyed searching and collecting Indian artifacts, watching his grandchildren farm, and fishing in the UP of Michigan. Most of all he enjoyed time spent with family and friends. Surviving are his children, Rick (wife: Julie) Lear, Mark (wife: Kerri) Lear, Lisa Lear (Michael Evans), two sisters, Imogean Cox and Margorie (Val) McBride. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Surviving step-children, Doug Minicus, Michelle (Todd) Snyder, Paula Minicus, Paula Deerr, Jim Minicus, and John Minicus. Also surivng are 11 step-grandchildren and 8 step-great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death along with his parents are two brothers, Ivan and Paul Lear; brother-in-law, Larry Goodwin. Funeral service 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 1, 2015 also at Palestine Christian Church; Rev. Guy Brown to officiate. Interment to follow in Palestine Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Palestine Christian Church in his name.
