Ivan W. Reel 86, of Remington, passed away at 9:30 a.m. Sunday, December 28, 2014 at St. Elizabeth East of Lafayette. He was born on March 4, 1928 in Seafield, Indiana to the late Daniel and Margaret (Wiesser) Reel and was a graduate of Gilboa High School. His marriage was to Evelyn Watson on April 11, 1948 in Crawfordsville, Indiana. She preceded him in death on June 26, 2010. Mr. Reel was a member and head usher of the Remington United Methodist Church. He was also a lifetime member of the Remington Masonic Lodge and past member of the Jasper County Iron Club. Ivan was an auctioneer for over 50 years, getting his diploma in 1961. He also was Plant Manager at Silver Lane Hybrids retiring in 1993. Ivan also farmed in his earlier years. He enjoyed spending time with family and raising draft horses. Surviving is a son, Michael Reel (wife: Janice) of Terre Haute, IN; a son-in-law, Rodney Pitstick of Remington; a sister, Carolyn Price (husband: Gordon); a brother, Donald Reel. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Zachary Reel, Ryan Pitstick (wife: Faith); Jennifer Wendling (Husband: Bill); Great-grandchildren, Jenna and Ciara Wendling, Aiden Pitstick, Taylor and Paige Sullivan, and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death along with his parents and wife is a brother, Byron Reel; sons, Philip and Steven Reel; and a daughter, Sandra Reel Pitstick. Friends may call from 4-8pm, Friday, January 2, 2015 at Remington United Methodist Church, of Remington. A Masonic Service will follow the visitation. Funeral service will be at 11am, Saturday, January 3, 2015 at Remington United Methodist Church with Reverend Mary van Wijk officiating. Interment to follow in Remington Cemetery, Remington, Indiana. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer or Heart Society, Wounded Warriors Project, or the Remington United Methodist Church.
