George "Tom" Luck, 73, of Lafayette, passed away peacefully with his wife and daughter by his side at St. Mary's Healthcare Nursing Home on Oct. 29, 2014. Tom was born on Nov. 3, 1940 to Roy Luck and Viola (Madison) Luck in Lafayette and he was a 1959 graduate of Lafayette Jefferson High School. Tom is survived by his wife of 50 years, Marilyn E. (Dodson) Luck. They were married at St. Boniface Church of Lafayette. They had one daughter, Michelle Cates (husband: Mike) from Noblesville, and two grandsons, Carter Thomas and Collin Michael Cates. He was in the Army Reserves for 6 years and was discharged in 1969. Tom retired from Eli Lilly & Co. after 27 years as a chemical operator. He enjoyed spending time with his family. He suffered for 13 long years with Alzheimer's and dementia, and was taken from his grandsons too early. Tom is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Kenneth V. and Dave C. Luck. Private family services will be held at a later date. Hartzler-Clapper Funeral Home of Brookston is entrusted with care. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Guardian Angel Hospice.
