Anna Harriet Kent Owens, 95, of Brookston, passed away on Monday, March 10, 2014 at St. Anthony's Health Care of Lafayette. She was born February 24, 1919 in Lafayette to Miller C. Kent and Alice Dicks Kent and was a 1938 graduate of Brookston High School. Her marriage was to Dale E. Owens on January 18, 1944 and he preceded her in death on August 28, 1985. She had lived on the family farm in Brookston for most of her life and was a member of the Federated Church of Brookston and Psi Iota Xi Sorority. She enjoyed politics, was a lifelong democrat, and enjoyed watching the Pacers and Purdue Basketball. She also cherished spending time with her family. She is survived by her daughter, Janice Owens Fisher and her son-in-law, James R. Fisher of South Bend; a granddaughter, Lori Fisher Ellenberger of South Bend; and a great-grandson, Owen Fisher Ellenberger. Also surviving are her nieces, Merrily Kent of Colorado Springs, CO, Ann Moore Howell of Indianapolis, Carolyn Kent Trousley of Zionsville, and Marilyn Kent Tapajna of Flossmoor, IL; and nephews, E. Kent Moore of Lafayette, David Kent of Brookston, and Stanley Kent of Colorado Springs, CO. Preceding her in death with her parents and husband are her sister, Alice Kent Moore, and brothers, James Kent and Bradley Kent. Funeral Service will be held at 1 pm, Saturday, March 15, 2014 at Hartzler-Clapper Funeral Home of Brookston with Rev. Dr. Lelan McReynolds officiating. Interment to follow in Brookston IOOF Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Charity of Your Choice.
