Linda "Smittie" Meyer, 68, of Brookston, passed away at her home at 1:00 am, December 26, 2013 after a four year battle with breast cancer. She was born December 25, 1945 to Paul and Louise Smith of Idaville. Linda graduated from Monticello High School in 1963 and then graduated from the St. Elizabeth School of Nursing in 1966. She was employed at local hospitals and health-care facilities until her retirement. She was a member of the Hickory Grove Church since childhood. Her hobbies included yard work and billiards. She dearly loved her family and all her friends. She is survived by Carrie Lynn Kernodle, her companion of 30 years; her son, Todd Meyer of Colfax; and her three grandsons, Cody, Collin, and Curtis Meyer of Lafayette. She was preceded in death by her parents and son, Tim Meyer. Friends may call from 12:30 pm until the time of funeral service at 2:30 pm, Saturday, December 28th, 2013 at Hartzler-Clapper Funeral Home of Brookston. Pastor Ed Selvidge to officiate. Interment to follow in Brookston IOOF Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials should be made to the Gideon's Association or to the Hickory Grove Church.
