John D. Rogers, 77, and lifelong resident of Monon, passed away at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 10, 2012 at his residence. He was born July 7, 1935 in Chalmers, Indiana to the late David R. & Eliza (Miller) Rogers and attended Monon schools. His marriage was to Leona Pardue on June 26, 1960 in Monon at the First Baptist Church. She survives. He was a member of the Monon United Methodist Church. Mr. Rogers worked at Wabash National as a custodian, retiring in 2000. Prior to that he worked many years at RCA in Monticello until it's close in 1982. As a young man he spent several summers farming for his uncle in North Dakota. John was a people person who never met a stranger. He enjoyed his coffee with friends at the local restaurant in Monon. He also liked attending antique tractor shows and watching the old time country westerns on television with his wife Leona. Surviving with his wife is a brother, Richard Rogers of Francesville and several in-laws. He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Kenneth Rogers. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until the time of funeral service at 1 p.m. Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at Clapper Family Funeral Home of Monon. Rev. Russ Alley to officiate. Interment to follow in Bedford Cemetery of Monon.
