Charles Richards Jr., 73, of Brook, died at 11:40 p.m. Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at his son's residence. He was born September 28, 1938 in Rensselaer to the late Charles and Irene (Murphy) Richards. His marriage was to Mary Kathleen Murphy on August 27, 1960 in Kentland. She preceded him in death on March 12, 2000. He was a member of Palestine Christian Church of Wolcott, and retired from Rogers Group, where he worked at Newton County Stone for 39 years. Charles enjoyed listening to country music, playing cards, attending church and church functions and spending time with his family. Surviving are three children; Tom Richards (wife: Sandie) of Brook, Melissa Scheurich (husband: Pat) of Rensselaer and Raymie Richards (wife: Janet) of Wolcott, three sisters; Maxine Honn (husband: Hedy), Betty Honn and Janet Burton (husband: Walt) all of Brook, and one brother; Paul Richards also of Brook. Also surviving are five grandchildren; Shawn, Lauren, Josh, Kyle and Ben and two great-grandchildren; Joshua and Kaden. He was preceded in death by two infant daughters and a sister; Judy Reid. Friends may call from 2-6 p.m. Sunday, July 29, 2012 at Foster-Clapper Funeral Home of Wolcott, and also one hour prior to his funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 30, 2012 at Palestine Christian Church of Wolcott with Pastor Guy Brown officiating; interment to follow at Riverside Cemetery of Brook. Memorial donations may be made in Charles' name to Palestine Christian Church.
