James Newton Miller Jr., 62, of Kentland, died at 3:24 p.m. Thursday, February 2, 2012 at Jasper County Hospital of Rensselaer. He was born September 26, 1949 in Hammond, Indiana to the late James Newton Senior and Bertie Virginia (Ramsey) Miller. His marriage was to Sally Marie Robertson on August 11, 1979 in Morocco. She survives. He worked as a heavy equipment operator in the construction industry and a mechanic for the Jasper County Highway Department. James enjoyed drawing, art, and keeping the Kentland neighborhood clean. He was very handy and mechanically minded. He built an antique car on his own, and could fix just about anything. Surviving with his wife are 6 children, Jay Miller of Rensselaer, Jim Miller (companion: Teresa) of Colorado, Pat Miller (wife: Dani) of Fort Wayne, Margaret Miller (companion: Todd) of Monticello, Colleen Eichman (husband: Mike) of Florida and Nick Denney (companion: Vicki Hutchins) of Kentland, one brother, Bill Miller (wife: Sarah) of Florida, four sisters, Janie Dearduff of Florida, Mary Cole (husband: Fred) and Trudy Lemmons both of Tennessee and Patsy Halon (husband: Jack) of Plymouth. Also surviving are 19 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held for James in the spring. Memorial donations may be made in his name to the Charity of Donor's Choice.
