John M. Olane M.D., 77, of West Lafayette, died at 12:10 a.m. Tuesday, December 6, 2011 at St. Elizabeth Central of Lafayette. He was born January 13, 1934 in Vallejo, California to the late John Michael Sr. and Jene Olane. He received his Doctorate from the University of Washington. John served in the United States Navy from July 17, 1959 until he was honorably discharged on September 7, 1967 and was stationed in Portsmouth, Virginia. His marriage was to Rosialeta Griffin on June 9, 2005 in Fowler Methodist Church. She survives. He was a member of the VFW in Fowler, both Doctor's and Teacher's Associations and the School Board in Washington. John worked as a Professor at Temple University in Philadelphia for many years. He then went on to specialize in the OBGYN field, and practiced in many different states, including Las Vegas, California and later Michigan. He loved playing chess, reading, traveling and watching sports. His favorite baseball team with the Chicago White Sox, and his favorite football team was the Green Bay Packers. Surviving with his wife are eight children, John Michael, Tom, Howard, Kevin, Alan, Mary, Karen and Sally, several grandchildren, step-children and step-grandchildren. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until the time of funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Friday, Decemeber 9, 2011 at the Indiana Veterans Home Chapel. Interment to follow at the Indiana Veterans Home Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made in his name to the Alzheimer's Association.
