Kathryn Ade Sprinkle, 91, of Lafayette, Indiana, formerly of Brook, Indiana passed away Sunday November 20th, 2011 at Rosewalk Commons. Born July 11, 1920 to Charles Roland Ade and LuEthel Davis Ade in Watseka, Illinois. She graduated from Alexander J Kent High School in Kentland, Indiana in 1938 and from Purdue University in 1942. She taught school directly after Purdue at Carmel Clay in Carmel, Indiana and then joined the Marine Corp Women's Reserve and served during World War II where she met her husband, Charles Kleinkort, a Marine from St Louis, Missouri. She was stationed in Edenton, North Carolina and at Camp Miramar in San Diego, California. After the war they married in Kentland, Indiana in 1945. Kathryn resumed her teaching career after the military and taught at Mount Ayr School and North Newton. Charles preceded her in death in January 1972. She then went on to become the County Executive Director of the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service in St Joseph County, Indiana. She married Walter O. Sprinkle in September 1973 and they resided in South Bend, Indiana and then moved to Camden, Indiana. He preceded her in death in July 1997. Kathryn moved to Rensselaer, Indiana in 1998 where she resided until she moved to Rosewalk in February 2009. Kathryn has been active in Psi Iota Xi Sorority, Literary Club, United Methodist Church, Home Economics Club, Hazelden Country Club, Newton County Historical Association, Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority, American Legion of Rensselaer, American Legion Auxiliary, VFW, Women's Marine Association and the Women's Republican Club. Kathryn enjoyed her life immensely; she loved to go and to do. She traveled to all 50 States, and many foreign countries, enjoyed attending grandchildren's sporting events, visiting with family and had many friends throughout her life. Kathryn is survived by her two sons: Karl Kleinkort of Lafayette, Indiana and Donald Kleinkort (wife Melody) of Monticello, Indiana, granddaughters Karen Brewer (husband Aaron) and Kelly Dobson (husband Tim) all of Rensselaer, Indiana, two great-grandchildren, Ashley Kleinkort and Daphne Dobson of Rensselaer and 2 Nieces, Marguerite Lechlitner (husband Larry) of Kokomo, Indiana, Adair Vaught (husband Dale) of Carmel, Indiana, and Nephew William C Ade of Brook, Indiana along with many Great Nieces & Nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother John Ade (wife Carolyn) of Brook. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. (CST) Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at Stitz-Clapper Funeral Home of Kentland. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. (CST) Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at Trinity United Methodist Church of Kentland with Rev. Ed van Wijk officiating. Interment to follow at Fairlawn Cemetery.
