Dexter A "Big D" Medrano, 16, of Brookston, died unexpectedly at 1:45 p.m. on October 23, 2011 at St. Elizabeth East as a result of a brief illness. He was born June 14, 1995 in Kankakee, Illinois and is the son of Gary and Vivian (Sawicki) Burton. Dexter was a fun loving joker who loved making his classmates laugh. He enjoyed being a gamer, camping and the Chicago Bears. Most of all he loved spending time with his family. Surviving with his parents are two sisters, Melanie Moreland (husband: Carl) of Kentland and Brandy Medrano of Brookston; a brother, David Teale of Ohio; a nephew, Tjaden Moreland; a niece, Alari Moreland; his grandmother, Leona M. Burton of Brookston, 3 aunts, 4 uncles and many cousins. Friends may call from 3 p.m. until the time of memorial service at 7 p.m. Thursday, October 27, 2011 at Hartzler-Clapper Funeral Home; Rev. Dr. Lelan D. McReynolds to officiate. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the "Big D" Memorial Fund to be used for a later good.
