Daniel J. Matthews, 50, of Brookston, died at 9:15 a.m. Monday, November 8, 2010 at St. Elizabeth East in Lafayette, Indiana. He was born December 11, 1959 in Lafayette, Indiana to Donald Matthews and the late Pat (Clawson) Matthews. He graduated from Carroll High School in 1978. His marriage was to Vikki Kent on November 23, 1984 at Monticello Methodist Church in Monticello, Indiana. She survives. Mr. Matthews worked as a fabricator at Tuthill Corp. for 15 years. He enjoyed music, especially classic rock, and was the lead guitar player for the "Cole Matthews Band." He also enjoyed riding motorcycles. Daniel had a great sense of humor and was liked by everyone. Surviving with his wife and father are three children, Stefani Matthews Hebble (husband: Andrew) of Monon, Joshua Cooley (wife: Jil) of St. John, Travis Cooley (wife: Heather) of Monticello, a brother, David Matthews (wife: Mara) of Flora, and two sisters, Donna Timmons of Mulberry, and Lillian Knight (husband: Gene) of Flora. Also surviving are 4 grandchildren, Micaila, Evan, Jason, and Brenden. Friends may call from 4 p.m. until the time of service at 7 p.m. Wednesday, November 10, 2010 at Hartzler-Clapper Funeral Home of Brookston with Pastor Tom Bennett officiating.
