Linda Lou Sutton-Lowery, 63, of West Lafayette, died at 4:00 a.m. Friday, October 22, 2010 at St. Elizabeth East Hospital in Lafayette. She had been in poor health for quite some time. She was born April 21, 1947 in Bloomington, Indiana to the late Paul E. Lentz and her mother, who survives, Louise Settles. She graduated from Bedford High School in 1965 and attended Ivy Tech in nursing. Mrs. Lowery served in the United States Air Force as a Medical Technician and was honorably discharged. She worked for Ford Motor Company in Bedford, Indiana for many years as a production line worker. After moving to Lafayette, Indiana she worked for Andover for several more years. She was a member of American Legion #492 of West Lafayette and the VFW in Lafayette. She was a past member of the Moose Lodge, Eagles Lodge and Eastern Star. She was also a member of the Huron Baptist Church in Huron, Indiana. She loved to sing, play the piano and listen to gospel music. She was active in bowling leagues and liked attending church activities. While at the Indiana Veterans Home she enjoyed sitting in the rockers watching the outdoor wildlife and watching the birds in the indoor aviaries. Surviving are two sons, Matthew Sutton (wife: Leah) of Richlands, NC and John Sutton of Orange City, FL; her mother, Louise Settles of Clayton, Indiana and a twin sister, Paula Sue Leahy also of Clayton, Indiana. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Alex, Kyle, Addie and Zach. Linda was so proud of both of her sons accomplishments; Matt for his service in the Marines in Iraq and Afghanistan and John for his education from Purdue and work. Visitation from 12 p.m. (noon) until the time of service at 1 p.m. Monday, October 25, 2010 at the Indiana Veterans Home Chapel; Chaplain David Hess to officiate. Interment to follow in the Indiana Veterans Home Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Indiana Veterans Home. Hartzler-Clapper Funeral Home of Brookston is entrusted with her care.
