Marie B. Nichols King, 94, of Bradenton, Florida, formerly of Remington, died at 8:10 p.m. Tuesday, September 28, 2010 at Westminster Manor in Bradenton. She was born January 27, 1916 in Wayne County, Kentucky to the late Robert Cullen and Ethel (Fairchild) Bell. She graduated from high school and then attended Berea College in Berea, Kentucky. She married William R. Nichols on January 3, 1935 in Burfield, KY. He died May 4, 1975. She later married Hervey King of Bradenton, FL. on September 14, 1978 in Remington, IN. He died March 30, 1983. Mrs. Nichols King and her husband owned and operated Nichols' Package Store in Remington. Prior to that she worked at Woody's Snack Shop in Remington as a waitress. She was a member of the Remington Presbyterian Church until moving to Bradenton where she joined the Whitfield Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed dancing, shopping and traveling. Surviving are two daughters, Nancy Lou Carter (husband: Lawrence) of Indianapolis, and Mary Ann "Duke" Critser of Rensselaer; and two sisters, Cleora Bell of Remington and Lela Young of Wolcott. Marie loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, Steve Carter (wife: Marilyn) of Indianapolis, Bill Critser (wife: Nada) of Crown Point, Andy Critser (wife: Lora) of Peoria, AZ. and Joan (Joni) Marie McClusky of Griffith, (husband: Doug) and her 11 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents, husbands, and her brothers: Raymond, Ralph, Amos, Lyle and Howard Bell. A graveside memorial service is to be held Saturday, October 16, 2010 at 11 a.m. (EST) in the Remington Cemetery; Rev. Amber Kurkosky to officiate.
