Susan Elaine Crawford, 59, of West Lafayette, died at 11:30 a.m. July 3, 2010 at her residence. She had been battling cancer for three years. She was born January 28, 1951 in Lafayette, Indiana to the late James and Ruby Pitman Klepinger. She graduated from Battle Ground High School, and attended Purdue University where she studied Organizational Leadership and Supervision. Her marriage was to Daniel Crawford on July 26, 1969 in Lafayette, Indiana. They later divorced. She lived in Brookston and West Lafayette most of her life, and was a member of Girl Scouts, where she volunteered as a leader. She was a homemaker and also cleaned houses. She received the "Cleanest House Award" from Better Homes and Gardens. She enjoyed gardening, being on the farm, spending time with her family, and working with children. Surviving is a son, Dustin Crawford of Lafayette, a daughter, Alexis Crawford of Lafayette, two sisters, Janet Dulin (husband: Merle) of Brookston and Beverly Potts of Lafayette, and two brothers, Tom Klepinger (wife: Kathy) of Lafayette and Richard Shipley (wife: Kitty) of Texas. Also surviving is a granddaughter Cassandra Crawford. Preceding her in death is a sister, Patty Shipley, and a brother, Jim Klepinger. Friends may call from 1 p.m. until the time of service at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 8, 2010 at Hartzler-Clapper Funeral Home in Brookston; Reverend Joe Hornick to officiate.
