Mary Margaret Hall

October 7, 1920 - January 12, 2010

Mary Margaret Hall, 89, of Wolcott, died Tuesday, January 12, 2010 at St. Anthony's Healthcare Center, Lafayette. She had been a resident there since August 30, 2006. She was born on the family farm October 7, 1920 to the late Harry and Margaret (O'Donnell) Schrader. She spent her childhood on her parent's farm in Brookston and relished the fond memories she had of her youth, helping her father on the farm and tending the stock in lieu of brothers she never had. She graduated from Brookston High School in 1938. Following graduation from Ft. Wayne Business College she worked at the White County Extension Office in Monticello. On September 20, 1940 she married Carl E. Hall at St. Mary's Cathedral in Lafayette. They made their home on Carl's family farm in Wolcott for 53 years until his death in 1993. Her primary focus was her beloved family and home and her Catholic faith. Margaret drove a school bus for many years. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Remington, participating as CYO leader, sewing circle and Rosary Society. She was recognized for her years of service to her church as Rosarian of the Year. She was an active supporter of her children's activities throughout the years including 4-H, band and FFA. She was a charter member of the Wolcott T&C (Town & Country) card club and remained active until her move to St. Anthony's. Margaret enjoyed entertaining and sharing her home with others. She loved to cook and bake and was well known by family and friends for the fabulous and abundant meals she served. Surviving are her nine children, David Hall (wife: Kay), Nancy Demerly (husband: John), Karla Buntin (husband: Jack) and Kent Hall (wife: Mandy) all of Wolcott, Diane Klemme (husband: Dan) and Nina May (husband: Jim) both of Lafayette, Marsha Hall (husband: Ed Warren) of Rochester, MN, Marc Hall (wife: Denise) of Windermere, FL and Kristin Whitacre (husband: Kevin) of Zionsville and three sisters; Fern Hughes, Irene Victor and Doris Jeanne Shultz (husband: Virgil) all of Brookston. Margaret had a deep love for her family. She cherished spending time with them all, especially her 20 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death with her husband and parents is an infant brother, Harry William Schrader. Rosary service to be held at 12:30 p.m. Friday, January 15, 2010 at Foster-Clapper Funeral Home in Wolcott with visitation to follow from 1-8 p.m. Funeral Mass Saturday, January 16, 2010 at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Remington. Fr. Thomas Fox and Fr. Bob Klemme to officiate. Interment to follow in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Remington. Because of her love for children and enjoyment received watching her family show at the fair, donations may be made to the Riley Hospital for Children or White County 4-H Association.
