Steve W. Nydegger, 53, of Lafayette, died unexpectedly Wednesday, November 11, 2009 as a result of a truck accident near Kentland. He was born December 18, 1955 in Lafayette to the late Lee D. and Ina (Graham) Nydegger and was a 1974 graduate of Wainwright High School. He was a member of the Indiana National Guard for six years. His marriage was to Lisa A. Barton on September 17, 1977 at St. John Lutheran Church in Rensselaer. She survives. Mr. Nydegger had just started driving for Circle City Hauling in Lebanon in the last three months. Prior to that he was owner/operator of his own trucking company, A&W Transportation, for 18 years and worked as a welder for Vulcan Materials for 15 years. Mr. Nydegger was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and the Teamsters Local #135. Steve was an avid Purdue University fan. He followed the career of Drew Brees and was a New Orleans Saints fan because of him. He also enjoyed fishing and trips to the ocean. Surviving with his wife are his children, Danielle Linder, Kristen Nydegger and Jacob Nydegger, all of Lafayette and a brother, Larry Nydegger (wife: Flo) of Lafayette. Steve was a wonderful grandfather and his grandchildren, Braiden, Drew, Dylan and Mackenzie were the light of his life. Preceding him are two brothers, Ron Nydegger and George Hulett, a sister, Joyce Rock and a special nephew, Michael Aaron Nydegger. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of funeral service at 1 p.m. Saturday, November 14, 2009 at Grace Lutheran Church (across from McCutcheon High School); Rev. Ed Morrow to officiate. Interment to follow in Johnson Cemetery, Stockwell. Memorials may be made to the Steve Nydegger Memorial Fund for future college assistance for his grandchildren.
