Ruth M. Stoll, 93, of Monon, died at 7:51 a.m. Wednesday, October 07, 2009 in Clarian-Arnett Hospital, Lafayette after a short illness. She was born March 24, 1916 in Jasper County to the late Edward and Elsie (Strong) Elston. She attended Francesville and Monon Schools. Her marriage was to Andrew J. Stoll on March 5, 1938. He died September 18, 1987. She was a member of the Presbyterian Women's Guild. Mrs. Stoll was a homemaker. She enjoyed BINGO, Euchre and spending time with her family. Surviving are her daughters, Carolyn Kruger (husband: Gerald) of Francesville, Doris Madsen of San Pierre, Indiana, Jan Smith (husband: Paul) of Winamac and Barbara Willis of Nashville, Indiana; a sister, Patricia Kocher (husband: John) of Lowell, Indiana and three brothers, Carl Elston (wife: Tish) of St. Petersburg, Florida, William Elston (wife: Dora) of West Lafayette and Forrest Elston of El Paso, Texas. Of special joy to Ruth were her 17grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, and 9 great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister-in-law, Betty Elston of Laporte. Preceding her in death with her parents and husband is a son, Richard D. Stoll and six brothers, Ronald, Francis, Jerry, Orland, Marvin and Arnold Elston. Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Friday, October 9, 2009 at Clapper Family Funeral Home of Monon. Service there 1:30 p.m. Saturday, October 10, 2009. Interment to follow in Roseland Cemetery, Francesville. Memorials may be made to the Riley Hospital for Children.
