Shawn M. Cain, 25, of West Lafayette, formerly of Fowler, died at 4:01 a.m. on Wednesday, July 15, 2009 in an automobile accident. He was born on March 18, 1984 in Lafayette to Michael and Sheila (Ringle) Cain. They survive. He was a 2002 graduate of Benton Central High School and a 2006 graduate of Ivy Tech Community College with an Associates degree in history. Shawn worked at SIA for 3 years in the body shop. He enjoyed fishing, was an avid Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs fan. He loved writing music and playing it on his guitar. Shawn was proud of his 2008 Chevy Silverado Z71. Surviving with his parents is his brother, Brady L. Cain of Fowler; and maternal grandparents, Vernon and Shelby Ringle of Fowler. Preceding him in death is his paternal grandparents, Vincent and Bonnie Cain; and an uncle, Allen Cain. Shawn treasured the time he spent with his friends and family. He also leaves behind his pet turtle, Gus. Friends may call from 3-8 p.m. Sunday, July 19, 2009 at Hartzler-Clapper Funeral Home in Brookston. Funeral Mass 10 a.m. Monday, July 20, 2009 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Fowler. Fr. Tim Alkire to officiate. Memorials may be made in his honor to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
