Florence E. Werner, 89, of Monon, died at 10:08 a.m. Friday, May 29, 2009 at White County Memorial Hospital in Monticello. She had been in failing health for the last two months. She was born July 24, 1919 in Lee, Indiana to the late Creighton and Matilda (Denton) Clark. She attended Monon Schools. Her marriage was to Edgar L. Werner Sr. on November 25, 1943 in St. James Lutheran Church, Reynolds. He died in July of 1981. Mrs. Werner forked for RCA in Monticello for 15 years retiring in 1980. She was a member of the Monon United Methodist Church and was a lifelong resident of the Monon area. She enjoyed gardening and canning. Surviving are her son, Edgar L. Werner Jr. (wife: Gerda) of Huber Heights, OH and two daughters, Janice Saker (husband: Tim) of Monticello and Linda Moncel of Monon. Also surviving are 4 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Monday, June 1, 2009 at Clapper Family Funeral Home in Monon. Funeral service 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 2, 2009 at the funeral home. Rev. Russ Alley to officiated. Interment to follow in Osborn Cemetery. Preceding her in death are five sisters, Aletha Crawford, Pearl Kellenburger, Dora Bulington, Alice Miller and Marjorie Evelyn Clark. Memorial may be made to the Monon United Methodist Church or the White County Council on Aging to be used for transportation.
