Betty E. Klepinger, 91, of West Lafayette, formerly of Brookston, died Tuesday, December 16, 2008. She was born August 2, 1917 in Mitchell, Indiana to the late Edward Pitman and Ethel Robbins Pitman. She graduated from Jefferson High School in 1933. She married Clarance Shipley and he preceded her in death. She then married James Klepinger Sr. on March 21, 1946 in Lafayette. He preceded her in death on September 4, 2001. Betty was a homemaker and a retired cook. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, and spending time with her family. She is survived by her children, Richard Shipley Sr. (wife: Catherine) of Ben Wheeler, Texas; James Klepinger Jr. of West Lafayette; Thomas Klepinger (wife: Kathy) of Lafayette; Beverly Potts of West Lafayette; Susan Crawford (husband: Danny) of West Lafayette; Janet Dulin (husband: Merle) of Brookston; and a niece, Midge Noble of Indianapolis. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
