Edward Lane, 85, of Rossville, formerly of Crawford County, Indiana, died at 5:09 a.m. Monday, June 23, 2008 in Milner Community Healthcare. He had been a resident there for the last 18 years. He was born December 22, 1922 in Crawford County to the late Roscoe and Mollie Eden (King) Lane. Mr. Lane farmed for many years raising livestock. He worked full time digging herbs and roots and would trap in the winter. He moved to Stockwell in 1988 to be with his family and began attending Stockwell United Methodist Church. Two years later he moved to Milner's when his health began to fail. Ed was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing, hunting and trapping. Surviving is a brother, Coy Lane (wife: Linda) of Stockwell. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death are two sisters, Sylvia Wise and an infant Dorothy Imogene Lane and two brothers, Charles and Laverne Lane. Friends may call from 4 p.m. until the time of service at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 25, 2008 in Hartzler-Clapper Funeral Home of Brookston. Interment on Thursday, June 26, 2008 at 1 p.m. at Wickliffe Cemetery in Southern Indiana. Memorials may be made to the Stockwell United Methodist Church.
