Deborah Leanne Redlin
1953-2023
Deborah passed away unexpectedly on December 27 th , in Orlando, Florida. She was
affectionately known as Deb, Debbie, Pretty Lady, and Grammy by her family and
friends. Deb was born on February, 1953, in Hammond, Indiana. She was adopted and
raised by her two loving parents Harold and Vera Wargo in Highland, where she grew
up in an ideal neighborhood and family, with friends whom she remained in contact with
today. In 1971, Larry Redlin married his “Pretty Lady”, and relocated to Monticello,
Indiana. They had two children, Heather and Jason Redlin whom they raised in Monon,
Indiana.
As a girl, Debbie worked as a carhop on roller skates at the Blue Top Drive-In. She
was a member of Girl Scouts and spent summers at Bass Lake. Her love of reading
was shared with generations of her family, a common meeting place was at the
bookstore because she loved the smell. Deb caught the travel bug in her forties after
her daughter became a travel agent. With her family, she traveled to multiple
destinations near and far, always game to trust and try something new. Her love of
Tennessee, Las Vegas, and Aruba was instilled in her family. If it was purple, Dolly
Parton, had sea turtles, smelled like flowers, or had an RBG reference, she probably
owned it or gave it as a gift. She was generous with her love and thoughtfulness to
friends and family. Deb and Larry loved going to see Broadway shows, her favorite
being Momma Mia. This was another legacy she passed on as her grands also claim
this play as their favorite. Deb had a huge spot in her heart for her grand-pups as they
did her. She proudly shared pics and tales of the pups: Daisy, Phoebe, Karma and
Wisteria online and via text. They reciprocated the affection and were jumping for her
attention to pick them up the minute they smelled her signature perfume. Debbie’s
lifelong and recently acquired friends maintained communication via Facebook and a
gazillion texts and memes. She could be counted on for a kind word, a silly picture, and
a hug through the internet.
Most of all, she loved her family. Grammy shared her love for arts and crafts with her
granddaughters, as well as gained her love for the arts through her eyes. She dabbled
in ceramics, painting, cross-stitch, macrame, diamond art, and numerous more. She
was known to always make time for her grands and children whenever possible, anyone
who knew her knew all about her love of family. She made trips to Florida to participate
in their lives, shows, events, and accomplishments. Deb would share tales and pics
with friends on Facebook, people in town, and anyone who had a minute. She would
sing “It’s A Wonderful World” to her eldest granddaughter Noelle every visit and share
her photos and memories whenever prompted by her curious grandkids and children.
She always knew the best meals to make, to watch movies, and to spend time together.
No one left her home hungry or without a huge hug, and sometimes a goody bag. She
would personalize, scent, and decorate every card, gift, note, and letter to those she
loved and cherished. Deb taught her daughter that no gift was too small for a bow and
tag and an excess of glittery decoration despite her family's loud objections.
Deb is survived by her husband, Larry Redlin, her two children, Heather (Scott Larson)
and Jason (Jay) Redlin, her three grands, Noelle Peffley, Tessa Peffley, and Hunter
Redlin, her brother Steve Wargo (Brenda), many nieces and nephews, and her grand
pups. Deborah was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Vera Wargo, nephew
Ben Wargo, and her grandson, Peyton Burrough.
Deb's visitation will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Miller-Roscka Funeral Home.
The funeral will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Burial will take place at the I.O.O.F. Riverview Cemetery in Monticello.
