Biographical Information:

Ed was born on the family farm where he spent his youth working, until he turned 18 and joined the United States Army. He fondly tells stories of his times in Germany, before returning home where he married Kay and they raised their family on that same farm. While he joined the White County Highway Department in the ‘80s, farming never left his blood. In his final days, he was constantly asking about crops, weather, and farming conditions. If you knew Ed, you knew his love for Purdue Men’s Basketball, where he and Kay had season tickets with some of their best friends during the Gene Keady era! He was a big Chicago Cubs baseball fan, where he made some memorable trips to Wrigley Field. His social calendar was often filled with attending many sporting events to cheer on his grandchildren, and he was their biggest fan! Euchre was another favorite past time. Ed’s competitive drive to win in his younger years softened as he got older, but make no mistake, he had a big smile on his face every time he euchred someone! Above all, Ed loved people! He loved his family, loved his friends, loved to laugh and share good stories, loved to talk about farming, and debate plays and players on the court. Ed was an active member of his Church, where he served in many roles from youth leader to cemetery board and an active member of the Holy Name Society and Knights of Columbus. He also served on the North White School Board for eight years, 4-H sheep barn committee for several years, and was a member of the American Legion.
