Herb had lived in the Monticello, Indiana, area for the last twenty - seven years. He had also lived in Hammond, Indiana, for thirty - six years, and Riverdale, Illinois, for twenty - six years. Herb had worked for Indiana Harbor Belt Railroad as a Switchman for over forty years. He never met a stranger whether it be two legged or or four legged. Herb loved his family, friends, and dogs.
