John had lived in the rural Delphi, Indiana, area for the last eighteen years, coming from Georgia. He had also lived in Fort Worth, Texas. John was a United States Navy Veteran. He was an AVID fisherman, hunter, and golfer. John fished and hunted since he was five years old, and was knowledgeable with nature.
