Marilyn L. Owens, 76, of Monon, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, May 2, 2023, at 4:45 p.m., in the Majestic Healthcare Center of Lafayette, Indiana.

    Marilyn was born on Sunday, March 2, 1947, in Lafayette, Indiana to Donald  W. "Don" and Lola M. (Sandberg) Sanders. They preceded her in death.

    On Friday, January 3, 1986, in Las Vegas, Nevada, she married Russell Owens. He survives.

    Marilyn was born Lafayette, Indiana and raised in Monon, Indiana.  She attended North White High School and later went on to get  her Beautician's License.  She was a self-employed Beautician for several years. She worked in HR, of the former Monon Trailer Company, keeping books for many many years. Marilyn was a tax accountant for H & R Block of Monticello, Indiana for several years.  In her later years, she worked in the deli for Krogers of Monticello, and Annis Food Liner and gas station until her full retirement.  Marilyn was a Life Member of the Eagles Lodge #2788  of Monon, Indiana.  Where she held many positions, including district, regional, and state titles. Marilyn liked to cook and bake.  She was a heck of a seamstress and made several quilts over the years.  Marilyn loved to play cards, especially euchre and pinochle.  She was an avid Chicago Cubs fan.  

   Marilyn is survived by her husband, Russell E. Owens of Monon, Indiana; daughter, Melissa L. "Missy" (companion Bobby Conley) Gillies of Monon, Indiana; son, Carl L. Burch of Lafayette, Indiana; granddaughters, Megan R. (fiancé Riley Dedaker) Roberts of Monticello, Indiana, and Sierra K. Burch of Indianapolis, Indiana; step-grandson, Brandon Day of Winamac, Indiana; sister, Kathy (husband Obie) Chancey of Mesa, Arizona; brother, Carl (wife Darline) Price of Colorado Springs, Colorado; brother-in-law, Jerry (wife Patty) Owens of Fort Wayne, Indiana; several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephew, and cousins; special friends, Rex and Mary Barrett of Wolcott, Indiana, Rick and Kathryn Young of Monon, Indiana, Nancy Norman of Monon, Indiana, and Sherry "Star" Lovejoy of Majestic Care of Lafayette, Indiana; Granddog, Red Conley who she loved very much.

    Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, Donald & Lola (Sandberg) Sander; infant baby (between Missy and Carl); brother, Lawarence "Larry" Sanders; second husband, David L. "Dave" Burch; mother and father-in-law, Joseph "Pete" and Mildred (Donaldson) Owens.

    Gathering of family and friends will be on Saturday, May 13, 2023, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services at 2:00 p.m. at the Miller - Roscka Funeral Home of Monticello, Indiana. Family request casual attire to be worn during the viewing and services. 

    Celebration of life service will be on Saturday, May 13, 2023, at 2:00 p.m., at the Miller - Roscka Funeral Home of Monticello, Indiana, with Pastor Alvin Smith of Monon, Indiana. Family request casual attire to be worn during the viewing and services.

    In Lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the family.  Envelopes will be available at the funeral home or can be mailed to 6368 E. US 24, Monticello, Indiana 47960 C/O Owens Family Memorial.
